Principal Eby's Letter

End of School Year is Fast Approaching

Sycamore families and students,

Best wishes to everyone. I hope spring break was restful and all our students are geared up for the last 2 plus months.

As the end of the school year is fast approaching, I cannot even begin to explain how enjoyable my first year has principal has been. In this letter I want to bring to light a change and point out a few reminders.

The first change, if you have not noticed, all the parking spots have been painted and marked as staff, visitor, or a specific school position. I have told all teachers to park in the school lot and not the street. The idea is to leave the street parking for parents, as well as the Del Prado Playfields parking lot, and the Paraiso. We do have approximately five spots marked visitor. I am requesting that these spots remain for parents or visitors with appointments in the office, not daily volunteers. Drop off and pick-up procedures will remain the same.

The first reminder is to review the dress code with your student(s). The student dress code is found in each student's handbook and on our website.  As the days have become warmer, it is imperative that our students adhere to the dress code. Any student found in violation will be provided a PE shirt or shorts to wear and parents will be contacted.

The Sycamore Canyon PTSA is also hosting our Family Fitness Night and Fun Run this month, April 18th and 19th. These two events are major fundraisers for this school year. The proceeds are intended to fund our Teacher Grant Requests. Our Sycamore Canyon teachers and your students will see direct classroom impact through these two events. The PTSA is also looking for volunteers to help, please sign up on the volunteer spot. It will be a great evening and day watching our Coyotes demonstrate their athletic prowess and learn about fitness.

Finally, California State Test or STAR testing is right around the corner. Elementary students (grades 2-5) test April 30-May 3 and Middle school students (grades 6-8) test May 7-10. Any students absent on the days of testing will be given make-ups the following week. Please get your Coyote rested and properly nourished for testing. It is important that all of our students are focused and ready for their tests. Depending on what happens at the state level this maybe the last year of state testing, in its current format.

Please keep apprised of updates through the weekly school and PTSA bulletins.

Go Coyotes!!

Mr. Eby
