| START TESTING |
Each spring, students in grades two through eleven take a Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) test. The STAR Program looks at how well schools and students are performing. Students take tests in math, reading, writing, science, and history. The STAR Program includes four tests: the California Standards Tests, the California Modified Assessment, the California Alternate Performance Assessment, and the Standards-based Tests in Spanish. STAR testing for Sycamore Canyon begins Monday April 29 and runs through Friday May 10. Please help your child prepare by:

| SCS PTSA PARENT ED. NIGHT: BUDGETS |
Sycamore families, In this time of budget uncertainty, I feel it my role to provide as much information as possible regarding the current state of Sycamore Canyon's budget and our districts'. On Monday night, October 15, Sycamore Canyon PTSA hosted a Parent Ed Night in which I covered the rules and regulations of site budgets, the importance of PTSA, the role of ASB, and teacher budgets. In addition, guest speaker, Dr. Jeff Barstaad, CVUSD Superintendent, provided information about the district budget and Propositions 30 and 38. The evening was formative and prompted good conversation for all who attended. For those of unable to attend my PowerPoint is available for download.
