Dear Sycamore Canyon Families, Teachers, and Staff,
Hi. My name is Sam Klein and I am truly honored to serve as your 2012-2013 Associated Student Body President. This year I (along with the other ASB officers) will work very hard to make this a memorable, fun and successful year.
One of my goals is to help Sycamore Canyon Middle School become a strong and close “community”. SCS is a community that learns together, plays together and laughs together. With a little encouragement, we can create a place where all the students feel like they belong. As a community, we need to support and help each other. I challenge all of you to switch lunch tables once a month or invite someone you don’t normally sit with, to sit with you. Also, I challenge each of you, to encourage one another to achieve in academics and offer help to your fellow coyotes. And most importantly, a close community does not care about what you wear or if you have the “best” phone. A community just cares about you as a person.
Another important way to grow our Sycamore Community is to increase participation in ASB run activities. ASB is here to make your Middle school experience a positive one. ASB plans to distribute a survey in the beginning of the first trimester, to find out what you, the students, want to see in the Lunch Time Activities (Every Friday), Dances (Once a trimester), Renaissance Rewards, and Rallies (Once a trimester), and Class of the Year (COTY) Days (Every other Friday). I also plan on reinstating the suggestion box so throughout the year you can easily communicate with ASB. With more input, it is my hope that more students will participate in ASB activities. I believe that by joining the activities you will meet new friends, have fun, and feel a part of the SCS Community, which is the ultimate goal of ASB!
I would also like to recognize some new faces to our community. Our new Principal, Mr. Eby, our new Dean of Students, Mrs. Brush, and our new Middle School Counselor, Mrs. Woodley. Let’s all give them a warm Coyote welcome.
